lesbian love
Maedchen in Uniform has something of a cult following. This 1931 German film is the first movie to contain an openly lesbian story-line. And it has it all: lesbians, uniformed school girls, hot teachers, unrequited love, and a proto-Nazi headmistress. Whew, what a heady combination! The movie was eventually banned as decadent by the Nazi party (due to it's pro-lesbian sentiments and largely Jewish cast). It remains a cult film to this day.

The plot revolves around a young girl, who has just lost her mother and who develops a major crush on one of her teachers, in a  boarding school run by a tyrannical headmistress that would have put Hitler to shame.  The film starred Hertha Thiele as the fourteen-year-old protagonist. It was based on a play written by lesbian writer Christa Winsloe, who used her own horrific experience in a Potsdam boarding school for material. Here is the film in it's entirety.

I don't watch TV, so I was surprised to run across this commercial. While I have to hand it to K-Y for being inclusive, I kind of suspect that featuring two femme lesbians getting busy is easier to pull off than having two guys in bed. Anyway, it is a still a breakthrough. I like the fact that K-Y presents them just like all the other straight couples - a little uptight and goofy. Lol. Makes me want to try the product.

Post Four in Sexual Dysfunction Series

low desire
So, you have read the previous posts in my sexual dysfunction series, and you have decided that you, dear reader (or someone you know), may have a sexual problem/dysfunction. Now what? If you are interested in finding out what your treatment options are, you should know there is no "pink Viagra". The FDA has yet to approve a drug to treat female sexual dysfunction (FSD).

Not that Big Pharma hasn't tried. Early on, Pfizer attempted to get FDA approval to treat female sexual dysfunction using Viagra and gave up when the clinical trials didn't approach statistical significance. This isn't surprising. Viagra is designed to treat erectile dysfunction, which is categorized as an arousal disorder.

Victorian
The year was 1856, and Dr. Horatio Storer was a busy boy, burdened as he was with two very trying patients - a couple of thoroughly intractable nymphomaniacs. Which, within the context of Victorian morality, simply meant a woman who (gasp) sought sexual pleasure for her own enjoyment!

He wrote about these troublesome patients and their treatment in the The American Journal of the Medical Sciences. The paper is a hoot to read, and I recently uploaded a PDF version of the file, which you can download here.

First up, is the case of Margaret Murphy, a young, Irish immigrant and unwed mother who sought help for a constant "pricking" sensation in her urethra, as well as a uterine hemorrhage. She also had a great deal of trouble with "micturition" (urination), and her symptoms sounded very much like a typical UTI (urgency, burning, etc.).

Wow, what a hottie! James Franco is a new crush object for me. I love "total package" men (beauty, brains, and character), and he is definitely one. This guy is an actor, artist, writer, and scholar. He has an MFA in creative writing from Columbia and is now pursuing a PhD in English from Yale. Plus, he continues to give back. He was honored by amfAR with a Piaget award for his involvement in the fight against AIDS. All this, and he looks great naked :)
