I found this television show to be a deeply disturbing look at how homosexuality was viewed in the 1960s -- preStonewall. This is an episode of CBS Reports that was broadcast in 1967. And it is pretty typical of a culture that still defined homosexuality as a mental disorder. It wasn't until 1973 that the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) removed it from its list of clinical disorders. The episode was the first network documentary on homosexuality ever aired.
