I love this Betty Dodson video. She talks about what an orgasm feels like. I think many women have questions about whether or not they are actually orgasmic. And rightfully so. Because we women don't have the "proof in the pudding"  (i.e., cum like men...at least not usually), we don't really know right off the bat whether or not we are climaxing. And the old "you'll know it when it happens" is so not true for women.

Particularly, when the only time we see women experiencing an orgasm is in the movies, or even worse (in terms of realism), in porn. There, they are so blown out of proportion that our own orgasms seem like a fart in world-wind by comparison. Then, I think that perfectly orgasmic women start thinking they are not orgasmic, when they are.

I started masturbating when I was 14, and I had an orgasm on my very first attempt. Naturally, I continued petting the kitty and still do. Lol. However, I never knew until I was in my early 20s whether or not what I was experiencing was an orgasm, or just arousal. I had all the signs: build up of tension, definite peak, and clitoral hypersensitivity after my peak.

But I thought it would be much, much bigger, more like a grand mal seizure! When my head didn't spin around and explode,  I assumed I wasn't coming. Lucky for me, I was seeing a knowledgeable shrink at the time, and she enlightened me. Orgasms vary in intensity from one time to another and from person to person. Some are big, some are little blips, and some are like shaking hands with God. Betty's right, they're all good.

So Ladies, what have your experiences been like? Any thoughts?

I love to masturbate Lilith, and women are much better at doing it by themselves most of the time-hope you dont mind a guys perspective
orgasm is the same for us too-I think we can separate the gender specifics and just get into coming.Together or alone. It is a destination
not a sexual preference.I think you know when you have come.Even when as men -sometimes due to medication issues we have no ejaculation. We still find it infuriating -just like you -when we cant.Arousal isnt gender specific-like orgasm-yes women go at it differently-but over time the sex of the person means nothing.Self exploration is a good thing for all of us.We must learn how to "get ourselves Off Women I think need to understand their vagina, their clitoris their labia etc men also need to experiment-its not abot sexual hierachy here-masturbation is a beautiful thing for all of us.Of course foreplay is the key to good sex -many men & women are not good at wanking-or being wanked. My experience as a man-is the same as youre -orgasms are 1-10-sometimes there is so much built up it hit my forehead-but it is the intention of the masturbator that is key here.
When you feel horny-you want a result-so you get it on.Lying standing
and one is free to fumble fondle straddle-finger.fingering stroking slapping -whenever-until you find you rhythym. Its important to come. And if you have a sympathetic pair of hands tongue, gentitals in your tolbox-your on.Loving yourself physically psychologically is very important. And yes explore your self totally lube and use your self with love and affection.Every stroke you practice on yourself -you can teach newby fingers and all other equipment to dine at your table of erotic love .Come come and come again.Think I will go and practice what I preach Lilith

I think you are right RichBliss both men and women probably are their own best lovers. And I didn't mean to imply that men didn't experience a variation in orgasm intensity as well as women. I guess the difference is that most men know they are orgasmic because of their ejaculation, which we women don't have. Anyway, glad to know you are out there.

    Happy Wanking,

    Lilith
